Sherwood Lodge (Nottinghamshire Police Headquarters) Refurbishment
.jpg)
Phased full refurbishment programme of Nottinghamshire Police headquarters’ main and ancillary buildings. All buildings remained live and operational throughout the works, including the main emergency call centre for Nottinghamshire Police.
The works were apportioned into 23 separate phases, with the flexibility to work around the client’s needs as required. With each phase, the areas involved were temporarily vacated by the occupants, who moved to other areas of the building, until the section was complete. Once complete, the occupants moved back before the next phase commenced. We tried to accelerate the works where possible, to ensure that each area could be handed back to the client as soon as possible.
A third of the works comprised the installation of new security glazing and external infill panels to the entire building, using a system specific to CLASP buildings.
Interior works comprised the replacement of wall, floor and ceiling finishes, including the reconfiguration of office and kitchen spaces plus associated building services.
The working space on site was limited to the confines of each phase and a single point of access and egress. The site compound was situated approximately 100m from the workface, all of which made the project a logistical challenge.
Due to the length of time Baggaley spent on site, a very strong client relationship was built up and nearly £1 million of variations were incorporated within the original contract period.
The sensitive nature of the site meant each individual on site had to pass a series of rigorous security checks prior to commencing work.
