Education

We have worked for education clients across the board. These range from local authorities and schools to colleges, universities and Diocesan boards of education.

Many of these projects have been completed while the premises have been occupied and we have a clear understanding of the health and safety requirements when operating in such an environment. Our site managers operate in a sensitive manner and take time to educate the students about the dangers of a live building site.

Case Study: New Sports Hall and Car Park

Construction of a new sports hall as part of Vision West Notts’ re-development of the college campus. The new facility comprises a multi functional gymnasium, with space for football, tennis, badminton and gymnastics, amongst other sports. Additionally, the scheme includes the provision of changing rooms, showers, storage areas for the equipment, and teaching facilities.

The project also involves the construction of a new 100 space car park and an extension to the existing car park next to the new sports hall, both of which were completed prior to the structure of the hall being started. A Gabion retaining wall has also been built against the Caudwell Road side of the site.

The works are taking place while the campus remains fully operational and are also adjacent to live day nursery. Any deliveries are timed to arrive before 7.30am so that they will not clash with the arrival of students each day. This particularly important as the only site access is through a live car park.

In an effort to reduce waste, the site team are trying to retain as much of the material as possible on site. Excavated material has been retained by adjusting the levels to suit and the top soil has been completely recycled.

It is intended that some of the apprentices from the pool at Vision West Notts will be able to work on the project during its various stages. Students from the college’s building department will also be paying visits to the site. Additionally, it has been arranged for the nursery children to be visited regularly as the project progresses.

The completed project will enable the college to increase its intake of sport and sport science and exercise students. In addition, the building will provide extra function facilities.
